THE EYE DOCTOR EYE MASK
The Eye Doctor Eye Mask is an eyelid heat mask that is used to alleviate the symptoms of dry eyes, meibomian gland dysfunction, blepharitis, chalazion (painless eyelid bumps) and styes (painful eyelid bumps). It is used to help alleviate symptoms of gritty and irritated eyes. The Eye Doctor Eye Mark was voted as the number 1 product in patient and optometrist preferences and the winner of the Queen Elizabeth Award for Innovation.
How does it work?
The meibomian glands are primarily responsible for producing tear film which cover the ocular surface. The glands produce meibum, an oily substance that prevents evaporation of the eye’s tear film. Heat from the eye mask helps to melt the oil in either blocked glands or to thin the consistency of the secretion so that it flows onto the ocular surface and provides moisture.
The eye mask is hygienic, removable, with a washable cover and an adjustment strap for dry, safe and clean storage. It is non-toxic, non-flammable and fully safety tested and reliable in the microwave and oven.
How do you use the eye mask?
The eye mask should be heated in the microwave or oven for up to 30 sec, and placed over the eyes for 7 to 10 minutes. It may be used twice a day for 2 weeks then once a day, or as required by your optometrist.
To use cold, the eye mask can be placed into the freezer for 2 hours, then placed over the eyes as required. A cold eye mask can be used to alleviate the symptoms of hayfever/allergies, inflammation, tired/itchy/puffy/sore eyes and sinus headaches.
