Myopia Management

My child is already wearing glasses, what else can I do for them?

The earlier myopia starts, the greater chance your child has of developing high myopia, increasing your child’s risk of developing sight-threating diseases. This is why it’s a major concern.

The aim of myopia management is to slow down myopia progression, reducing the potential risk of developing high myopia and thus, reducing risk of developing ocular complications. This not only involves correcting the blurred vision but also employing treatments and strategies such as orthokeratology and atropine eye drops, proven to slow the progression of myopia in children.

What is orthokeratology?
Orthokeratology also known as ORTHOK is a treatment whereby a patient wears a rigid contact lens to bed and take them off in the morning, allowing them to see clearly throughout the day without glasses or contact lenses.

What is atropine?
Atropine is a medicated eye drop used once at night in both eyes for myopia control.

What is multifocal contact lenses?
Multifocal contact lenses are specially designed lenses that are shaped like a bullseye target, where each ring focuses light differently.

The efficacy of these 3 myopia management strategies has shown to be equal – reducing the rate of myopia progression by 50%!
